Steve Reed, better known by his stage name Blackwax, is a renowned DJ and  music producer with over 30 years of experience in the industry. Born in Cambridge Blackwax developed a deep love and appreciation for music at a young age.

For most of his adult life, Blackwax worked in various record shops, honing his skills and expanding his musical knowledge. He eventually had the pleasure of running Blackwax Records, a shop that was started by some of his friends. The record store meant a lot to Steve, that the name stuck, and he’s been known as Blackwax ever since.

Throughout his career, Blackwax has collected and listened to a wide range of music genres, including soul, house, disco, hip-hop, and more. He incorporates these styles into his DJ sets and productions, always striving to keep his sound fresh and current while remaining influenced by his musical past and staying true to himself.

As a producer, Blackwax has released tracks with artists and labels such as Tone Control Music, Pirahnahead, Poji Records, Jazzloungerz, Canvas, SOL, Soul Free, A Deeper Groove, Soulfunktion, and Tony Humphries Tony Records.

Blackwax’s talents as a DJ have earned him residencies at Bump N Hustle in Bournemouth and the Vocal Booth Weekender since 2009, this year will be is 15th dj set in Spain. Blackwax also performs at local parties such as Brighter Days and more.

When he’s not busy making music or DJing, Blackwax enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He is known for his friendly and approachable demeanor, always ready to share his passion for music with a smiling dance floor.
